Often when processing events in a Service Visual Event Handler you need to perform processing on a subset of the event stream.

For example, if you have a single stream that is receiving events from multiple sensors and you want to check whether the temperature of an individual sensor has crossed a threshold. To do this you must first add a SplitByGroup Activity Pattern
